Two unforgettable weeks in the Kyrgyz mountains

On the day of your arrival you will be met at Manas airport, after which you will go to the city of Karakol. The road runs along the shores of Issyk-Kul lake, and you will have the opportunity to admire the beautiful view of the country’s largest lake, surrounded by majestic mountains! In one of the cities located on the shore of the lake you will have lunch (not included in the tour price), then continue on your way. Later in the evening, you will be taken to a cozy guest house in Karakol. After dinner, you will meet with your guide, who will accompany you throughout your journey.

This day is for acclimatization. After breakfast, you will go for Karakol city tour, its history begins in the 19th century. You will visit local sights such as the Holy Trinity church, the Dungan mosque, the regional museum and the local bazaar where you can buy dried fruits (not included in the tour price). Then you will try national cuisine. If necessary, the guide will take you to the sport shops, where you can buy everything you need for a hike. After dinner, you will return to the guest house.

After breakfast, early off-road transfer to the village Inylchek. On the way, you can visit the “dead” city of Inylchek. Also, the guide will lead you to an excursion into the depths of old mines, where ore was mined before. After the tour, the guide will offer you several options for camp accommodation. Then you can walk around the neighborhood and learn about the history of the city. After completing the walk, you will have dinner and stay in tents.

After breakfast, you will return to Karakol, along the way there will be small stops in beautiful places so that you can walk and take amazing photos. For dinner, you will be taken to the local ethno-cafe, where you can also enjoy national dishes (not included in the tour price). Later in the evening you will arrive in the city and stay in the guest house. After dinner, the guide will inform you about the hiking tour and give useful tips.

After breakfast, transfer to the beginning of the trekking route, deep into the Karakol gorge until the merging with the Ayu-Tor gorge. On this day you will do a steep climb from a height of 2500 to a height of 3100 m, where the camp will be set up. After the tents are set, the guide will prepare dinner. Overnight in tents.

On this day, you will climb the Panoramic Pass (3700 m.), From where a view of Lake Ala-Kol opens from an unusual angle. Then you will go down to the lake (3500 m.), Where you will have lunch with a beautiful view of it. You will bypass the entire lake along the coast and be located near the Alakol-Kyra glacier from where a magnificent view opens up. Dinner and overnight in tents.

This day should start a little earlier, after breakfast you will go to conquer the Takyrtor Pass. But before you reach the snow-ice pass (3,700 meters), you need to cross the entire Alakol-Kyra glacier at the foot of which the famous lake is located. Lunch will take place at the first convenient place after the pass. Then you will go down Takyrtor gorge to hot natural springs, coming out straight from the rock. The water in this place is rich in minerals and reaches a temperature of 60 degrees. Before placing in tents guide will prepare dinner.

Today, after breakfast, you will descend through the Takyrtor gorge to the confluence with the Altyn-Arashan gorge, with a stunning view of the Ak-Suu mountain range. Eternal ice and snow peaks enclose the gorge with glacier “Aksu wall”. Here you will have lunch with an amazing view of the gorge. Then you will continue the trek to the hot springs of Altyn-Arashan, where a small mountain settlement is located, which hosts tourists from all over the world every year. After dinner, you will be accommodated in yurts and you can visit the hot springs for relaxation and rest.

On this day, you will have the opportunity to rent a horse before going down the Altyn-Arashan gorge to the car and spend part of the day on horseback (paid on your own). For lunch, you will stop at one of the many local ethno-cafes (paid on your own), then transfer along the southern shore of Issyk-Kul lake to Bokonbaevo village. Along the way, you will visit the Fairy Tale canyons, which fascinate with their beauty and create the atmosphere of the fairy-tale world around. After the walk you will have dinner and stay in yurts in Bokonbaevo.

On this day, you will have a long journey to Son-Kul lake, where you will also be accommodated in a national Kyrgyz dwelling – a yurt. Lunch will be held in one of the roadside cafe (paid on your own). The local color and the spirit of the nomads will completely immerse you in an atmosphere of alienation from civilization, and you will witness the life of local people. Before dinner, you will have the opportunity to walk around the neighborhood.

After breakfast transfer to Bishkek, where you will visit the local market, to buy souvenirs and dried fruits (purchases are paid for independently), a short walk through the center of Bishkek. Then you will be taken to the hotel for rest after busy days.

After breakfast transfer to the airport with a great mood, a large supply of good memories and gained trekking experience.

Clothes and equipment:

You can take all necessary things. Please take into consideration that in summer time the temperature in Bishkek city reaches up to 40 oC and in the mountains the temperature decreases to 10 oC. Be prepared for unexpected changes of the weather.

Recommended: rain-coat, sweater/fleece, wind-stopper, enough t-shirts and other underwear (think of taking smth with long sleeves to avoid sunburns), hat (remember – the sun can be violent), sun-screen cream (30 or higher), insect repellent (skin + clothes), good trekking boots for easy hikes in the mountains, walking shoes (don’t need heavy ones) for the city walks, flash light (torch).

Personal first aid kit (most likely problems: blisters, sunburns, allergy, diarrhoea, sore muscles after hikes. Take painkillers, anti-histaminic, antibiotics of general action, and anything you need for your usual medical conditions), personal hygiene kit (disinfection gel is highly recommended) + some toilet paper.

A small towel, swimming suit (for Issyk-Kul), sunglasses, photo camera, notepad and a pen to make notes as you travel, a smaller backpack, except for your normal suitcase.
