On the day of your arrival you will be met at Manas airport, after which you will go to the city of Karakol. The road runs along the shores of Issyk-Kul, and you will have the opportunity to admire the beautiful view of the country’s largest lake, surrounded by majestic mountains! In one of the towns located on the lake shore you will have lunch (not included in the tour price), then continue on your way. Later in the evening, you will accommodate in a cozy guest house in Karakol. After dinner, you will meet with your guide, who will accompany you throughout your journey. Minimum altitude: 700 m. Early breakfast. Transfer from Karakol city to Karakol gorge to the starting point of the trek. The Karakol gorge is located 9 km south of the city. The gorge has a length of 40 km and it is adjacent to the ridge Terskey Ala-Too. A stop for the lunch. The first overnight stay in the Sirota camp (2800 m). Dinner. Overnight in tents. Average altitude: 2446 m. Highest altitude: 3003 m. Distance: 11,3 km. Maximum gradient: 47 % Average gradient: 13 % Travel time: 6,5 h.
Early breakfast. Distance hike to the lake Ala-Kul (3500 m). The hike takes about 3 hours, from the camp. After a short halt, excessive gradient and talus will be awaiting us to the Ala-Kul pass (3860 m). Lunch. Descent from the pass to the gorge Keldyke. Dinner. Overnight in tents (3200 m). Average altitude: 3483 m. Highest altitude: 3889 m. Distance: 9 km. Maximum gradient: 55% Average gradient: 26% Travel time: 6 h.
Early breakfast. Descent to the Altyn-Arashan valley. You will have the opportunity to visit the swimming pools with mineral water and take a walk in the surrounding area of Arashan. Lunch. Accommodation, dinner and overnight in the yurts (2500 m.). Average altitude: 2769 m. Highest altitude: 3196 m. Distance: 10 km. Maximum gradient: 31% Average gradient: 3% Travel time: 5 h.
Early breakfast. Hot morning pool before returning to the city of Karakol. A 4 hour hike to the beginning of Karakol gorge where a car will be awaiting us. Lunch. Return to the city of Karakol. Hotel accommodation. Dinner. Average altitude: 2196 m. Highest altitude: 2555 m. Distance: 14 km. Maximum gradient: 20% Average gradient: 5% Travel time: 4 h.
Breakfast and transfer to Bishkek, airport “Manas”. Minimum altitude: 700 m. Average altitude: 900 m. Highest altitude: 1800 m. Distance: 450 km. Travel time: 7 h.
You can take all necessary things. Please take into consideration that in summer time the temperature in Bishkek city reaches up to 40 oC and in the mountains the temperature decreases to 10 oC. Be prepared for unexpected changes of the weather.
Recommended: rain-coat, sweater/fleece, wind-stopper, enough t-shirts and other underwear (think of taking smth with long sleeves to avoid sunburns), hat (remember – the sun can be violent), sun-screen cream (30 or higher), insect repellent (skin + clothes), good trekking boots for easy hikes in the mountains, walking shoes (don’t need heavy ones) for the city walks, flash light (torch).
Personal first aid kit (most likely problems: blisters, sunburns, allergy, diarrhoea, sore muscles after hikes. Take painkillers, anti-histaminic, antibiotics of general action, and anything you need for your usual medical conditions), personal hygiene kit (disinfection gel is highly recommended) + some toilet paper.
A small towel, swimming suit (for Issyk-Kul), sunglasses, photo camera, notepad and a pen to make notes as you travel, a smaller backpack, except for your normal suitcase.
