On the first day of the tour you will be met at the airport and taken to the city of Karakol, which is located on the shores of Issyk-Kul. The road is long, but very exciting! Because all the way outside the window you will observe the diversity of the nature of Kyrgyzstan, from the rocky gorges to the lake shores. After lunch you will arrive to Karakol, where you will meet with the guide and get to know the city. After dinner you will accommodate in guest house.
After a hearty breakfast, you will be transferred to the Karakol gorge, from where the trekking route begins. Within a few hours of the trip you will rise from a height of 2,250 meters to 2,600 meters above sea level. Lunch will take place at the first convenient place for a picnic. After arrival to the Chon-Tash base camp, the guide will set up tents and prepare dinner for you.
After an early breakfast, you will go to the foot of the On-Tor glacier (3150m). Your guide will organize a picnic for you at some great place with a wonderful view. In the evening, the guide will set up camp at the foot of the glacier.
After breakfast, you will begin climbing the On-Thor glacier. On the base camp called “Kettle”, which is located at an altitude of 4250 meters above sea level, the guide will set up tents and cook dinner.
Acclimatization day. After breakfast, the guide will teach the rules of behavior on the slope. The guide will prepare a lunch. Then the guide will prepare the route and hold a briefing on it. After theoretical and practical lessons you will have dinner with a stunning view!
This day will start early. After breakfast, you will climb Dzhigit peak (5170 meters above sea level). After conquering the summit, the descent to the base camp “Kettle” is 4250 m. Dinner.
After breakfast, you will start descending 2,600 m along the Karakol gorge to Chon-Tash camp. Lunch on the way. Then the guide will set up tents and organize dinner.
After breakfast, you will go down the Karakol gorge to the place where you will meet with transport, which will take you to Karakol. Then, after dinner, you will accommodate in guest house.
Reserve day, in case of bad weather.
After breakfast, transfer to Bishkek, continuing to admire the nature of Kyrgyzstan, as you will have a stunning view of the Issyk-Kul Lake.
You can take all necessary things. Please take into consideration that in summer time the temperature in Bishkek city reaches up to 40 oC and in the mountains the temperature decreases to -5 oC. Be prepared for unexpected changes of the weather.
You need to have with you: mountain boots, cats, safety system, 5 carbines, ice ax, helmet.
Recommended: rain-coat, sweater/fleece, wind-stopper, enough t-shirts and other underwear (think of taking smth with long sleeves to avoid sunburns), hat (remember – the sun can be violent), sun-screen cream (30 or higher), insect repellent (skin + clothes), good trekking boots for easy hikes in the mountains, walking shoes (don’t need heavy ones) for the city walks, flash light (torch).
Personal first aid kit (most likely problems: blisters, sunburns, allergy, diarrhoea, sore muscles after hikes. Take painkillers, anti-histaminic, antibiotics of general action, and anything you need for your usual medical conditions), personal hygiene kit (disinfection gel is highly recommended) + some toilet paper.
A small towel, swimming suit (for Issyk-Kul), sunglasses, photo camera, notepad and a pen to make notes as you travel, a smaller backpack, except for your normal suitcase.
